10gal Nano?
I feel sad that there are no threads in this section so I will post one! I would love to start a saltwater tank Smile but all I have empty right now is a 10gal. Is it possible to set up a saltwater tank in a 10gal? How hard would it be to set up? How much would it cost and how many/what kind of fish could I have? Thanks! Ive never tried saltwater before!

RE: 10gal Nano?
In a word.. NO.
Nano tanks are only for expert or experienced Marine fish keepers.
If you intend going Marine then buy the biggest tank you can afford and have the space for.

RE: 10gal Nano?
Have to say, in my own experience I ran a 16 litre marine tank for about 6 months with no issues.
Then ran a 50 litre marine tank for over a year with no issues.
I've since moved to bigger and better but in my experience maintaining a small tank like this is down to simple common sense rather than significant expertise.

Don't overstock it, add only hardy fish/inverts, research EVERYTHING to ensure that the environment is suitable for the specimens chosen, don't overfeed and keep an eye on the parameters.

Once your expectations are realistic for what you can keep in a small volume of water, keeping it marine or freshwater is just as much work...

My intention for the next little tank I set up will be to put some good quality live rock in a small tank with only a heater and some circulation pumps & leave it be to see what develops.
The diversity of life that comes out of live rock if there's nothing to predate on it is amazing...
